Like many other treks in Meghalaya, a trek to the double-decker living root bridges of Nongriat is an experience like no other. The journey is as good as the destination, as they say. Day 3: More of Cherrapunjee To Mawlynnong Village
Today, explore more of Cherrapunjee. Visit places like the Garden of Caves, the Arwah Caves, and the Seven Sister Waterfalls, to name a few. Then, from there, drive to the India – Bangladesh border where the two countries are divided by a natural border, the Umngkot River.
Asia's Cleanest Village - Mawlynnong | 3 Nights 4 Days Meghalaya Tour
Go on a boat ride on the transparent waters of the Umgkot River (the river remains muddy in the monsoons/on rainy days). You can visit the ziro point, where both countries meet, and can also interact with people from the neighboring country.
From there, head back for a bit and take the diversion towards Asia’s cleanest village, Mawlynnong. On your way to Mawlynnong, stop by the village of Riwai to take a quick hike to the single-decker living root bridge.
Night stay in the Mawlynnong village.
On the last day of your trip, check out from your homestay after breakfast and drive straight to the Dawki to witness the crystal clear waters of the Umngkot River at Dawki (this is not possible during the monsoon season as the water is muddy). You can go boating (not included) on the river and boat to Ziro Point, where India and Bangladesh meet.
From there drive down straight to Guwahati to catch your flight back home :-).
